Home > Yarns > Recycled Sari Silk >
A unique yarn. Sari silk is extraordinary, with vibrant colour and texture. It is hand spun from shredded sari remnants in Nepal and India by women, many of whom are refugees, widows or have been abandoned or abused and rescued from forced prostitution. It has created empowered women at the heart of a cottage industry.
There are about 300m to each 200g of yarn. Suggested needle size is 6mm, at about 3 stitches per inch and is available in a variety of jewel-like primary colours.
As you can see, the variety of colours in each skein is tremendous, but if you have a colour preference, let us know when ordering. Wash the finished item in cold water, separate from other items, in case of bleeding. Dry naturally. If you are using more than one skein, you may want to alternate skeins on each row to avoid striping.
